We’re glad you asked! Gelato is really the Italian word for ‘frozen’ but the Italians use it to refer to their fabulous version of ice cream. Gelato is made primarily with milk instead of cream and is kept at a warmer temperature than American ice cream so that the flavors are more intense.
Our gelato is genuinely 'artigianale' or artisan-made, using the hot process method. This means that instead of buying a pre-made base, we make our base from scratch, using local dairy products. The flavors are created using premium ingredients, like cage-free eggs; fresh, seasonal produce; and pistachio paste from the town of Bronte in Sicily (the only place to get pistachios).
Before opening our inaugural store in Summer 2006, we lived in Italy for eight months researching the best methods for making gelato and the most delicious flavors. To date we have visited gelaterie in over 20 cities, and we're not done yet! Stop by our new, permanant location at Norton Commons to see what you like best. We’ve put a lot of thought into your gelato!
